Personally, the first time I wrote on a blog I found it quite difficult. I was in a different country and I was going to write about why I felt eating animals was not right. It was difficult for me to think of how I would get the message across. How to find the right words without offending people and at the same time, challenging the classic views that you need meat, that it is good for you and the hidden fact that the meat industry pollutes the planet enormously. So I started with the question,
would you ever eat your cat or dog? How is this animal different from others?
From then on I got inspired, my English was not that good so I had to think about it but I really enjoyed it. I liked the idea of sharing my thoughts and being read. I think the blog gives us the opportunity to think carefully, to ask if we need help and to read each other's ideas. I really like this part of it. Get to know what you think of things and how you view the world. I personally think that writing in any language is a good thing. You always learn something.
One thing I think about a lot is maybe the fact that I would like to write with other people on the same document. What do you guys think about the blog?

A bite
When I was younger, I loved to go out clubbing or to parties. However, in recent years I tend to go out to eat or go to concerts rather than to dance. Santiago has some great restaurants and you can eat out quite cheaply. There are "picadas" like Golfo di Napoli for wonderful pizza or pasta or slightly more expensive places with wonderful International cuisine like Thai House or some Peruvian. I am a Pescatarian, I eat fish and seafood but not meat (of other kind) so that is always a factor when I eat out.
I
don’t think I have a favorite kind of food. There are some foods that I do not
like much, for example Korean food. I suppose it is because the meat dishes are
the specialty. I love very hot food, lots of spices and taste. There is a nice
Indian in Santiago. It is a bit pricy but it is really nice. It is
called Rishtedar . Many of the dishes are spicy hot and there is a scale of
spiciness from 1 to 6 (from mild to blow-your-head-off). I love spicy food but
grade 4 is as hot as I can stand.
I
also love places like “el naturista” in the center, where you can enjoy porotos
Granados or fantastic quinoa dishes for a very reasonable price.
Write
about somewhere you like to eat out ( picada or not) or a place you enjoy going
to for a bite.
Say:
What
it’s called,
Where
it is,
What
it serves,
What
you like to eat there.
Mention
anything else you thing is important. Write at least 200 words. Leave a comment
on my blog and on the blogs of 3 classmates.

A nice walk
A
nice walk you remember
I know this is not something we often write about, but I thought
I’d tell you about one of the nice walks we have done in our lives. Since I am
a nature lover, I seem to enjoy most settings and landscapes. However, today
I’ll refer to one that was different in terms of temperature and exuberance. A
couple of years ago I had the chance to visit Costa Rica because my husband had
work there. We decided to go to the Atlantic coast first and visited
the national park in “Cahuita”. This was a really beautiful experience since I
had the chance to see amazing plants, butterflies, monkeys, huge iguanas in the
natural habitat, raccoons, birds and colorful crabs.
It was really amazing because I wasn’t sure what to expect and I
was really surprised by everything I saw and heard. The colours were
so bright, the fact that it was raining but the temperature was 26 degrees. In general it was very hot and humid People in
Costa Rica or “Tikos” are lovely It was
all really special and I really enjoyed it.
What
about you?

a competition or tournament on TV
Dear all,
For some reason, I have always enjoyed
watching sports. My dad was “mad” about football and I listened to football all
my early life. However, I only developed my love for watching tournaments in
the past ten years. I had a knee injury that stopped me from running. My
interest increased when I started doing sports on a regular basis and also
started reading about muscles and how to develop them.
I love
the Olympic Games, the Rugby world cup and the football world cup. They are my
three favourite events. To me, the capacity of the human body is nearly
unlimited. Football is something that I like because I feel is the only
collective sport which allows more or less anybody to participate. I think most
humans given the chance, could develop sports skills, the problem is that many
sports are too elitist. I believe sports help people be healthier and happier.
One
thing I would like to watch one day is a tournament for disabled people. I am
sure it must be quite inspiring.
Write about a tournament or competition
(cooking, make up, gardening, science, etc.) that you enjoy watching on TV or live.
Say:
When you started
Why you like it
What if there is something related you
would like to see in the future.
Mention anything else you find relevant.

a social issue you are interested in
Dear all,
I hope everyone is well.
Today I’d like to refer to an issue
that worries me a little.
For me, the issue of greatest
concern is education, but not only formal education. Education is related to
quality, but also to access and participation. What is seen as a good career to
study will determine your options. When you look at a country in which the
majority of people have serious reading comprehension issues, we face a problem
that goes beyond which school children go to (Which is another area to
develop). It relates to how do we as people understand texts and how we can
help others and particularly children, to become more aware of their reality
and more confident and critical adults in the future who study what they want,
not what is paid best. I strongly believe children and young people are the
hope for a better future. When parents work 8 hours a day and then commute home
for another hour, how can we ask them to read with the children. Or when
parents don’t read, it is unlikely (not impossible) children read. Here we
touch other complex issues.
I dream of a place where all people
have different opportunities, not necessarily in academic studies, there are
plenty more areas to work on. However, how can we exploit that if people here
do not value jobs like gas fitter, electrician, mechanics, draftsmen,
seamstresses, etc.? We need all sorts of people to make the world go around.
There is a need for a paradigmatic
change that is deep and radical. We need the Ministry of Education to open
their eyes and look beyond. Implement policies that encourage children to enjoy
their childhood and not just competiveness
Write about a
social issue that you feel needs addressing in this administration.
Describe it
briefly.
Explain some of
the consequences.
Refer to how the state
could address it or include any other relevant information.
Write a minimum of 180 words.
Write a comment on my blog
(teacher's blog) and 3 more comments to classmates.
