Santiago

We all have different ideas of the ideal city. I have been lucky enough to travel around Chile and elsewhere and I feel all cities have their positive and negative aspects.
I feel Santiago has a lot of potential to become a great place to live. Unfortunately, at the moment there are a few problems to solve. Pollution is a great issue form April to August, and this is a real pity when you have such beautiful mountains you could look at but you cannot see in the winter.  I also feel streets and transport in general are designed to suit car drivers and not pedestrians or cyclists. I think this really needs to change. Moreover, we definitely need more parks and less buildings. Last but not least, I find Santiago a really expensive place in general.
On the upside I think in Santiago there are many places you can go to depending on the mood you are in. The area around plaza Brazil or Lastarria offers several things to do.

I love Quinta Normal park, and strongly recommend it to everyone. I also really like the area around Estación Central and Vega Central. In particular the last one where you see a lot of color and there is a lot of noise. Mostly human voices.
